(MARYVILLE, Mo.,) The Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents approved a tuition increase and changes to the campus alcohol policy during its meeting Thursday.

Beginning with the fall 2013 semester, tuition will increase 1.7 percent. The increase is based on the Consumer Price Index.

The university will now allow alcoholic beverages in several parking lots west of Bearcat Stadium during home football games.

The board also approved alcohol sales and consumption during social functions at the Thomas Guant House, the president's residence; and for certain other events, including wedding receptions and event openings that are approved by the president.
