(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Missouri Western's two-game win streak was snapped Wednesday night in a 78-69 defeat to Lindenwood.

The Griffons (7-8, 3-4 MIAA) jumped out to a 12-2 lead early in the game, but were outscored 28-15 the rest of the first half.

Western and Lindenwood went back and forth in the second half until the Lions went ahead for good with 8:41 left in the game.

Four different players scored in double-figures for the Griffons, led by Cedric Clinkscales with 12 points on 5-10 shooting.

Reed Mells and Kalvin Balque each added 11 points in extended roles Wednesday night.

The guards were filling the void left by James Harris.

Harris was dismissed from the team Wednesday afternoon after violating team guidelines.

Mells made his third start of the season, and Balque's 16 minutes were his second most of the season behind the 21 he played against Northwest.

The offensive woes for Missouri Western continued against Lindenwood. The Griffons, 14th in the MIAA in scoring offense, shot just 29-percent from the field in the first half, including 3-14 from beyond the arc.

Alex Bazzell led the Lions in scoring with 20 points thanks to a stellar 15-16 performance from the free throw line.

Missouri Western gets back on the road Sunday against Emporia State.
