(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) Just three days after the Kansas City Chiefs began their search for a new head coach, it could be nearing its end.

ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen are reporting that the former Philadelphia Eagles head coach and the Chiefs are "on the verge of a deal."

Kansas City's Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt, general manager Scott Pioli, as well as a group of other Chiefs' officials, met with Reid in Philadelphia for nine hours on Wednesday.

The talks between the two sides were successful according to ESPN's sources, saying "the major issues have been discussed and agreed upon."

Reid is the winningest coach in Eagles history with a 130-93-1 record since 1999, and he has had nine of his 14 seasons with a record above .500.

The Chiefs have had just five winning seasons since 1999.
