(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) Kansas State handed No. 8 Florida its second loss of the season Saturday night at the Sprint Center 67-61.
The Wildcats (9-2) had already suffered two losses to ranked opponents this season, No. 4 Michigan and No. 14 Gonzaga, and both of those deficits were 14 points or more.
But K-State kept the Gators close all game long.
Florida's largest lead in the game was just 3 points, and that came with 12:12 to play in the first half.
Kansas State went into the break ahead by 10 thanks to a 16-4 run to end the half.
The win is K-State's first over a non-conference top 10 team since 1981, and is Bruce Weber's first signature when as head coach of the Wildcats.
Overland Park native Will Spradling had a career day with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists without committing a turnover.
Rodney McGruder was the only other Wildcat in double-figures scoring 13 points.
Kansas State returns to the court December 29th at home against UMKC.
