(FLORENCE, Ala.) A senior season that will go down in Missouri Western lore garnered running back Michael Hill a spot in the final three candidates for the Harlon Hill Trophy.
However, he will not be returning to St. Joseph with the honor awarded to the top player in Division II.
Shippensburg quarterback Zach Zulli claimed the prize Friday night, picking up 202 total points in the voting. He set NCAA Division II records this year for points (336) and touchdowns (56). He also tied a D-II record with 54 touchdown passes.
Hill came in 64 points behind for a second-place finish. Bloomsburg running back Franklyn Quiteh finished third with 101 points.
The Griffon is the first finalist in program history, and still holds status as the MIAA Offensive Player of the Year, an AFCA Coaches All-America First Teamer, and the all-time rushing leader for Missouri Western.
