(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) The Royals have sent top minor league prospect Wil Myers and three others to Tampa Bay in exchange for pitchers James Shields and Wade Davis, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
The Rays also receive right-handed prospect Jake Odorizzi, left-hander Mike Montgomery, and third baseman Patrick Leonard. The Royals get another player to be named and cash.
Myers was voted the top player in the minor leagues last season. The outfielder batted .314 and knocked 37 homers and 109 RBIs between stints in Double- and Triple-A.
Shields, a former All-Star, went 16-12 with a 2.82 ERA while finishing third in the American League Cy Young Award voting in 2012.
Davis, meanwhile, moved to the Rays' bullpen last year after being in the starting rotation from 2009-2011. He held a 3-0 record and a 2.43 ERA.
Odorizzi posted a 15-5 mark and a 3.03 ERA for Northwest Arkansas and in two starts in Kansas City, while Montgomery went 5-12 with a 6.17 ERA.
