(SAINT JOSEPH, Mo.) One conference game is in the books for Rob Edmisson, with one victory to his credit.

The Missouri Western women avenged their lone loss to Truman State earlier this season, knocking off the Bulldogs 71-64 Wednesday night.

The win already puts the Griffons ahead of last year's win total of seven.

After taking a 35-28 halftime lead, the Griffons (8-1, 1-0) opened up a 11-point advantage over Truman (5-1, 0-1) in the second half.

The Bulldogs were able to cut it to six, but Western nailed 11 of 13 free throws in the final 20 minutes to ice the victory.

Heather Howard lead the charge with 13 points and seven boards. JaQuitta Dever also hit double-digit points with 12.

The Griffons host Fort Hays State on Saturday.
