(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) Police are investigating two deadly shootings in Kansas City this morning involving a Chiefs player.

The Kansas City Police Department says the player is 25-year-old linebacker, Jovan Belcher.

The first shooting was reported around 8:00 a.m. at a house near 54th Street and Crysler Avenue in Kansas City. Reports say the player drove to the location and shot and killed his girlfriend, 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins.

Darin Snapp, of the Kansas City Police Department, says Belcher and the Perkins have had an on and off relationship together, and have a three-month-old daughter.

Belcher then drove to a practice facility located at Arrowhead and shot and killed himself in front of coaches including head coach, Romeo Crennel.

The facility went on lockdown this morning, meaning no person could enter or leave at that time.

Since then, the lockdown has been lifted.

Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt released this statement on the incident:

"The entire Chiefs family is deeply saddened by today's events, and our collective hearts are heavy with sympathy, thoughts and prayers for the families and friends affected by this unthinkable tragedy. We sincerely appreciate the expressions of sympathy and support we have received from so many in the Kansas City and NFL communities, and ask for continued prayers for the loved ones of those impacted."

We will update this page as we receive more information.
