Area kids got a visit by some world famous Harlem Globetrotters

They weren`t the only ones, celebrity boxers, T.V. stars and sports legends also spent the afternoon at the Bartlett Center. Hoping to inspire the youth in the area they talked about what it takes to achieve dreams. The stars were a bit disappointed by the low turnout. Those who were there got some one-on-one time with the celebrities. "Be a good person, no matter what you decide to do in your life, whether it`s boxing or basketball, a lawyer, doctor or whatever it is, be a good person first," boxer James "Bonecrusher" Smith said. "Give these kids an opportunity to touch these people, and know that they can achieve the same greatness as them," Gator Rivers, Globetrotter, said. If you missed out on the meet and greet you can still catch these celebrities Sunday at the celebrity team pairing and auction. The dinner gala starts at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph Country Club. On Monday the celebrity golf tournament will begin at 1 p.m. The event benefits several area organizations.
