(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Entering her senior basketball season at Benton High School, Andee Wahlert made the decision to continue her career at the next level.

Wahlert signed her letter of intent to play at the University of Central Missouri Wednesday evening after practice.

As a junior, she averaged 8.3 points and 3.1 assists per game for the Cardinals.

Wahlert says she's now able to focus solely on her fourth season of high school basketball now that her college plans are finalized.

"I'm relieved that I got this part taken care of," Wahlert said, "and I'm ready to just come out this season and have some fun and play with my best friends."

Her high school basketball coach, Brett Goodwin, believes Wahlert is getting the opportunity to continue her career because of her work ethic.

"I think it's just good for us to get another kid at the collegiate level, and especially a kid that has really had to work hard to get there," Goodwin said. "It's a privilege to see hard work pay off for a young girl like that."
