Third-string quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Rams offense, completing 12- of-18 passes for 105 yards and the only touchdown of the game. Third-string quarterback Jeff Terrell completed 15-of-25 passes for 117 yards and an interception for the Chiefs (0-4), who open at the Houston Texans on September 9. Kolby Smith gained 64 yards on seven carries for the Chiefs. Kevin Lovells 36-yard field goal with 8:47 left in the first quarter gave the Rams the early edge, capping an 11-play, 52-yard drive. Neither team scored again until Fitzpatrick and Hagans hooked up on a 20-yard score with 2:47 remaining in the third quarter, finishing off a 10-play, 61- yard drive. Justin Medlocks 40-yard field goal with 2:46 left in the game finally put the Chiefs on the board. The Rams did suffer one injury of note, losing backup offensive lineman Todd Steussie in the first quarter to a broken left foot. The 36-year-old Steussie is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks with the injury.
