Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Alex Gordon's three-run homer put an exclamation point on a career-high four RBI night, as Kansas City trounced the Angels for the second straight night with a 12-4 victory at Angel Stadium. Joey Gathright finished 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. His night on the bases was more eventful, scoring twice, getting thrown out at the plate in the first and again being called out for tagging too early in the sixth. "It was a nice win, especially the way we swung the bats," said Royals manager Buddy Bell. "That's encouraging - everybody contributed." Gil Meche (5-6) continued his stellar 2007 campaign, surrendering three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk over six frames. The Royals have won three straight. "I tried to mix it up and I kept the ball down," said Meche. "My curveball was good, and I was able to control the left side of the plate." Ervin Santana (5-8) was hit hard in the loss, giving up seven runs -- five earned -- on nine hits with two walks during five-plus innings. Vladimir Guerrero had a pair of hits in defeat. After throwing Gathright out at the plate in the top half of the third, the Angels took a 1-0 lead in the bottom half when Nathan Haynes tripled and scored when Meche mishandled Reggie Willits' bunt attempt. Kansas City tied the game in the fourth on Billy Butler's solo homer then exploded with a four-run fifth. Gathright doubled and David DeJesus was hit by a pitch before Esteban German attempted to move both runners with a bunt. Chone Figgins threw errantly to first, and Gathright scooted home for a 2-1 game. Mark Teahen's double plated DeJesus then German sprinted home on a wild pitch. Gordon's base hit to left let Teahen cross the plate for a 5-1 advantage. Jose Molina's RBI double in the bottom of the fifth cut the deficit to 5-2. John Buck's solo homer and DeJesus' sacrifice fly pushed the edge to 7-2 in the sixth. It could have been more after Gathright crossed the plate on Emil Brown's fly ball to right. However, the Angels appealed the play and Gathright left early from third. A Figgins walk followed by Guerrero's double put the Angels in business during the sixth, but they only mustered one run on Casey Kotchman's RBI groundout. Kansas City tacked on five more runs in the eighth to turn the game into a rout. Gathright singled, stole second and in the process of stealing third he came around to score when Molina's throw sailed wide into left field. German's double tight to the line in right scored DeJesus and Gordon later added a three-run homer. Kendry Morales' solo homer in the bottom of the ninth capped the scoring.
