(MARYVILLE, Mo.) The Griffons padded their resume with another 17 runs, 28 hits, and their 16th straight victory Thursday.

Missouri Western remained unbeaten in MIAA play with a sweep of Northwest by finals of 10-4 and 7-2.

The bats picked right back in the first inning as Bubba Dotson and Grant Fink delivered two-run shots en route to five runs in that first frame. The Griffons (17-3, 12-0) jumped out to a 7-0 advantage before Steven Garber's homer opened the Bearcats' (6-16, 4-13) scoring in the third.

Oliver Kadey picked up his second win of the season on the mound, allowing three hits and four earned runs in four innings of work. Blane Reutter was saddled with the loss, dropping his record to 1-3.

The second game got off to a slower pace, tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the second. Kyle Simpson smacked an RBI single in the first inning before Derek Meyer sent a sac fly to right field in the next frame.

Western then showed up with a big inning once again, dropping five runs in the 4th, highlighted by Fink's second two-run blast of the afternoon.

Wathena, Kansas product Jerad Hawkins got the win in his first start as a Griffon, giving up six runs, one earned run and striking out three in seven innings. Austin Warren took the loss as Western roughed him up for 12 hits and seven earned runs.

Northwest hits the road Saturday for a three-game series at Truman, while the Griffons are back in St. Joseph Saturday for a three-game series against Central Oklahoma.
