Veterans will be honored this Wednesday, but some of the men and woman who served still struggle in a fight against homelessness.
Most of these veterans also struggle with a variety of issues including mental health and substance abuse.
Gary Harden, one of 131,00 homeless veterans in America says, "I had addiction problems, and I came to St. Joseph, changing places, and I got a chance to come into Juda House. It was probably the best thing that happened to me as far as getting back on track and living conditions.”
Juda House and Haven House are organizations that help these homeless veterans with their struggles so they can get back on their feet and work toward having a better future.
Juda House offers fully furnished studio apartments, complete with washer and dryers. This allows these veterans to be independent, as well as help one another.
Juda House and Haven House currently helps 13 veterans. They work together with the veterans administration to council their residents so they can one day live on their own.
