  • Endangered Teen Found Safe in Buchanan County
    Reported by: Deanne Brink

    Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @04:35pm CST

A St. Louis teen is recovered in Rushville, after missing for more than 6 months.

The teenage girl posing as a boy was found safe in Buchanan County.

Buchanan County Sheriff's deputies found the 16 year old girl safe at a home in the Mid-Buchanan area.

The St. Charles Sheriffs Dept. contacted Buchanan County just yesterday about the missing teen.

Shelby Rowden from Augusta, Missouri was reported missing back in June.

The teen was believed to be an endangered run away.

It took Buchanan County deputies and a school resource officer from the Mid-Buchanan district just days to followed a series of tips that lead them to Rushville.

That's where they found the girl, pretending to be a boy.

Authorities say Rowden was cooperative and found in good health.

She will now be held at a juvenile facility in Buchanan County until her parents can come and take her home.

There is no word on just how Rowden managed to cross the state from St. Louis to Rushville.

Authorities did say though, that after six months on the run, Rowden was relieved the whole thing was finally over.
