Ryan Succop drilled four field goals, including the go-ahead 46-yarder to give the Chiefs their first win of 2009.

In the process, Todd Haley gets his first win as an NFL head coach. The Chiefs snap a 9-game losing streak dating back to November of 2008. And dodge becoming the first team in Chiefs history to start a season 0-6.

The game was ugly from start to finish. The Chiefs and Redskins combine for six field goals, no touchdowns, and one safety. Kansas City’s maligned defensive unit held the Redskins to 265 total yards offense. Coming into the game, the Chiefs were ranked dead last in total defense.

Matt Cassel was 17 for 32 with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
