His tires may not spin as fast as the wheels that rolled through town for Stage Six of the Tour of Missouri, but for Wes Jones sometimes slow and steady wins the race. He helped clear the path for more than 100 cyclists who pedaled down city streets Saturday.
"We spent a lot of time cleaning that route, especially," Jones recalled. "You've got people coming in from all over -- spectators, plus the
racers themselves and support groups. If they see a clean city,
they'll want to come back. The better the city looks, the better it relects on us."
Jones is one of two street sweepers employed by the City of St. Joseph.
