Wednesday, May 2, 2007 @12:41pm CDT ![]() Alan is KQ2's Weekend Weather anchor and is in his
second tour with KQ2, previously working as the anchor on Hometown This Morning
and as Assignment Editor in the Newsroom. Alan
left KQ2 early in 2008 to become manager of promotions, marketing and special
events at The Belt Bowl and Belt Sports Complex (which he still does), but his
love of television and journalism has brought him back to us. His return
to KQ2 completes a circle...his major past-time
(bowling) is now his career and what had been his career (KQ2) has become a
part-time job and a new passion..
While forcasting the weather and presenting it on
TV was a new challenge, Alan has always had an interest in weather, even taking
a couple of meteorology classes when he was in college. In his first three
months at KQ2 in 2004, Alan had the opportunity to report on a string of three
hurricanes that hit Florida and the Southeast US in a three week span. Alan
followed local Red Cross volunteers who had gone to Florida to help with
recovery. While there, acting as a volunteer himself, Alan was in charge of a
hurricane relief shelter in Biloxi, Mississippi, the night hurricane Ivan rolled
on shore.
Alan has a degree in broadcast journalism from The
University of Nebraska. He lives with being a Husker in the land of Tigers,
Wildcats and Jayhawks and has lived in St. Joseph since 2002. In his spare time,
he enjoys golf, bowling (of course), spending time with friends, learning to
speak spanish and traveling. |
