St. Joseph School District Introduces Fred Czerwonka as New Superintendent

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A new leader is ready to take the reigns at the St. Joseph School District.
St. Joseph School Board President Dan Colgan introduced Dr. Fred Czerwonka, 41, as the top choice for the superintendent role during a news conference Friday.
Czerwonka comes to St. Joseph from the West Plains Public School District in southern Missouri, where he worked for 10 years. He was superintendent for four years there.
Czerwonka is originally from Houston, Texas and holds a Bachelor of Science degree and Masters of Education from Freed Hardeman University. He has 21 years of experience in education, 13 years as an administrator.
"My first step will be to build relationships with all stakeholders to communicate that children are priority one," Czerwonka stated in a news release.
According to the release, Czerwonka will take over for Dr. Melody Smith July 1. Smith announced her retirement in December.
